XRP Mobile Casino Payments: Sending From an Exchange App
The phone page covers the casino side of the handoff: scanning, copying, the cashier screen. This note covers the other side, an exchange or wallet app on the same phone, because a withdrawal form is where the tag field is actually filled in or left empty.
Withdrawing from an exchange to a casino is the most common route for new XRP users, and the exchange app is rarely built with the casino in mind.
The form has two fields, and one is optional-looking
A withdrawal form for XRP normally asks for an address and a second field, called destination tag, memo or note. The second field often looks optional, because for many destinations it is. Cloudbet’s own interface text refers to a Tag/MEMO field and to enabling or disabling it, which is the same idea on the casino’s side: whether the tag is needed depends on where the money is going.
Here it is needed whenever the cashier gave you one. The form will usually let you leave the field empty and submit.
The confirmation screen is your last look
Before you confirm, read the summary. The address and the tag should both appear. Some apps add a review step with a tick box acknowledging that no tag was entered. If you see that box and you were given a tag, stop and go back.
Which hash to keep
The exchange gives you a withdrawal reference and, once the payment is on the ledger, a transaction hash. The hash is the one you need, because it works in any explorer and is what the receiving operator can search. The exchange’s own reference only works inside the exchange. Copy the hash into your notes the moment it appears.
Do the same with the time. Wallet apps often show local time while explorers may show UTC, so write down which one you copied. Two similar payments, one at 09:10 and one at 10:10 by different clocks, are exactly the confusion a receiver cannot sort out from an amount alone.
Short answers
| Can I leave the tag field empty in an exchange app? | Usually the form allows it. Whether you should depends on the destination, and a casino cashier that showed you a tag expects it. |
|---|---|
| Which reference does the casino need? | The transaction hash from the ledger, not the exchange’s internal withdrawal number. |
